Candace Boggan has been journaling since January of 2002, just five short months after the unexpected passing of her beloved father. At the time, it proved to be therapeutic and served as a means for her to cry out to God in her distress. From that point on, journaling became a staple in Candace’s life, having gone on to fill countless journals with her concerns, prayers, sermon notes and thoughts — serving as life maps as the Lord Jesus has continued to order her steps.
In addition to journaling, Candace has been an avid writer dating back to her early grade school years, even winning a young author’s award for a children’s book she created in middle school. In September of 2013, she published her first travel piece on the island of Curacao with Global Loving Magazine in the fall. She went on to publish several other articles across a number of other media outlets, including Black Enterprise Magazine and Upscale Living Magazine. The acclaimed writer once hosted three personal blogs and served as a ghost writer for an organization’s blog.
Candace has not only contributed to travel, lifestyle and business publications and other media outlets but she’s also worked with many globally recognized brands and companies, supporting marketing, human resources and business development efforts. Her journey hasn’t been a straight shot, but it’s been a beautiful one so far, filled with excitement and wonder, as well as some missteps, which is all a part of this gift we call life.
For many years Candace questioned her purpose and often pondered over how to connect it to her passions to create a fulfilling life. It was in 2013, shortly after the conclusion of her contract with a European based yacht company that she connected her love for travel (having previously owned a travel agency) with her God-given ability to write and create, that the light bulb clicked on. She was led to the story of the widow in 2 Kings 4, who sought the assistance of the prophet Elisha after the death of her husband. The prophet goes on to ask her “ what does she have in her house” that can ultimately produce resources and she responds “your servant has nothing but a small jar of oil.”It was then that Candace looked down at her hands and reality set in. Knowing the challenges that often accompany the process to identify your calling, she started a blog titled Connecting Passion & Purpose that year, along with a travel blog, titled Candace Travels. Both blogs grew with faithful readers from over 26 countries. From there, more doors opened and Candace soon had partnerships with various brands, as well as continued to consult with many companies in the areas of business development and marketing. In 2022, she felt led to create this journal to help others align their passions and purpose. It is Candace’s hope that she can help take some of the guesswork out for those struggling, similar to her experience prior to her epiphany moment. She hopes you all find strength and joy during the process, knowing it is the Lord’s will for all to live an abundant life.
I look forward to creating an engaged and thriving community!
